What exactly IS counselling?
Counselling is professional help for personal issues in a safe and confidential environment. Counsellors respect clients and work ethically: they don't judge or give advice. Counselling gives people a chance to feel heard and understood, and can facilitate changes to make your life better. It can include psychotherapy where we explore past experiences and look back at your personal history to try to get to the root of problems. I find this can work wonders with most people. (You are not obliged to talk about anything you do not wish to talk about).
Some issues may be long-standing or reoccurring, and others may be new. Counselling can help with any of these.
People come to counselling for many different reasons, some of which include: depression, anxiety, relationship issues, loss, low self-esteem, health concerns, lack of motivation, feeling judged, work problems, stress and other things too.
How can counselling help?
Counselling can help by:
- Encouraging you to be your REAL self. It can feel difficult to be authentic sometimes (or all the time!) if we feel judged/pressured or there are expectations put on us. This can lead us to put on a 'mask' for others. This can lead to complicated feelings, bury feelings deeply and even put us on a path in life that we aren't happy to be on. How nice would it be to just BE yourself?!
- Encourage you to connect to, label, and really feel what you are FEELING. Why? Because it helps us to know ourselves better, and explore things at a deeper level. It also links to the above point! ''Know thyself''.
- It can be transformative for a counsellor to reflect back to you what you are saying - this works in two ways: 1) sometimes saying things out loud has a exceptionally strong impact and can help process things in a new way 2) it can help put things in perspective.
- You may not have somebody in your life that you feel you can confide in about what you think/how you feel, or somebody to 'check-in' with you on a weekly basis, so counselling can provide this also.
- Helping you invest in yourself. We are all worth it!
How much does it cost?

How do i/we get in touch?
See the 'contact me' page or use the booking link on most pages
Where do sessions take place?
Online, by telephone (telephone can't be used for couples) or face to face (check with me to see if i'm accepting face to face clients)
Can't we just book a 50 minute session as a couple instead of having an online chat first?
No, because i need to check suitability for therapy. You can also use it to ask me any questions etc.
